Learning Through Play
At Tŷ Hapus, we believe that children learn best when they are actively engaged and having fun. Key Areas of Our Curriculum
Bilingual Learning
We are proud of our bilingual approach at Tŷ Hapus, where children are immersed in both Welsh and English. At the Tan-Y-Lan and Cwmdu settings, children experience both languages through songs, stories, and everyday conversations. Our bilingual curriculum helps children to develop language skills in both languages while promoting cultural awareness and self-confidence.
Tan-Y-Lan Nursery
Full bilingual immersion, helping children transition smoothly into both Welsh and English-speaking environments.
Cwmdu Nursery
Welsh is integrated into everyday play, making the learning of both languages a fun and natural process.
Play-Based Learning
Play is the cornerstone of our curriculum. Through play, children develop essential life skills such as problem-solving, communication, and emotional regulation. We incorporate play into every aspect of our daily routine, whether it’s role-play, construction play, or arts and crafts. Play not only supports creativity but also builds confidence and social skills as children interact with their peers.
Physical Development
Physical development is a crucial part of our curriculum. We provide plenty of opportunities for children to develop gross motor skills through outdoor play, running, climbing, and team games. Our indoor soft play areas and outdoor play zones allow children to engage in physical activities that improve coordination, balance, and strength.
Social & Emotional Development
At Tŷ Hapus, we place a strong emphasis on empathy, kindness, and respect for others. We encourage children to express their feelings and understand those of others through daily interactions, group activities, and role-play. By teaching children how to work collaboratively, resolve conflicts, and understand social cues, we help them build strong, lasting friendships.
Cognitive Development

Creative Arts & Expression

Nature & Environmental Learning
Our outdoor play areas are designed to connect children with nature. We believe it’s essential for children to learn about the environment and the world around them. Gardening, nature walks, and outdoor exploration teach children about respect for nature, sustainability, and the importance of looking after the planet.
School Readiness
